I am a painter in figurative art. I have been drawing and painting all my life. From an early age I would represent
stories through images. We didn't have a television so the graphic stories of Asterix and Tintin, were my greatest pleasure and inspired my life of art and travel. My first class in figure drawing at age 14 began my interest in the human form through models. Later I took art classes at university
and participated in figure drawing groups in Paris and San Francisco. Eventually,
my life took me to various Asian and Southeast Asian countries to study languages, cultures and traditions. My experiences living in
and travelling through these countries as well as a Master's degree in Cultural Anthropology have fed my desire to
represent humanity in visual expression.
These days, I have been working on a graphic novel project to represent the story of my ancestors and their lives through
the various stages of the recent evolution of France from the Napoleonic wars through WWII, from my ancestor the
Colonel Ferjeux Fortier given the nickname of Fortier de la Berezina by Napoleon to my own parents' experiences in
World War II which includes the historic mass exodus from Paris.
